Prontera Underground Prison (PUP) – Dungeon Entrance Quest

Type: Dungeon Access Quest

Requirements:

  • 1x Squid Ink
  • 1x Animal Skin
  • 1x Karvodailnirol

Repeatable: Once per account (shared unlock for all characters)

Unlocks: Access to Prontera Underground Prison & Instance Questline

Overview

The Prontera Underground Prison (PUP) Entrance Quest serves as the pre-requisite to access the PUP Dungeon and its Instance storyline.

Once completed, all characters on your account can enter the dungeon without repeating the quest.

If you get stuck at any point, open your Quest Log (Alt + U) — navigation markers will automatically guide you to your next NPC.

Simply follow the glowing navigation lines on the floor to proceed.

Quest Walkthrough

1. Investigate the Rumbling in Prontera Castle

  • Head to Prontera Castle (North Prontera).
  • Upon entering, a message appears:

    “A strange rumbling can be heard from the left side of the castle...”

  • Move downstairs to the left to trigger a cutscene. → Continue through it to progress the quest.

2. Assist the Injured Guards

  • After the cutscene, Advisor Lorian appears and requests your help. He asks you to find Priest Peter to heal the wounded guards.
  • Locate Priest Peter inside Prontera Church → /navi prt_church 103, 66
  • Talk to him, he agrees to meet you at the dungeon entrance.

3. Return to the Dungeon Entrance

  • Head back to the entrance of the Prontera Underground Prison.
  • Speak with Priest Peter, who will heal the wounded soldiers.
  • Once the healing is complete, proceed to the Throne Room of Prontera Castle to report back.

4. Report to Advisor Lorian

  • Find Advisor Lorian in the Throne Room → /navi prt_castlep 76, 165
  • He explains that a mysterious crystal shard was found at the PUP entrance.
  • Lorian gives you a Broken Crystal and instructs you to bring it to Professor Morgenstein in Geffen for analysis. → /navi geffen_in 141, 140

5. Meet Professor Morgenstein

  • Travel to Geffen and find Professor Morgenstein at the Blacksmith Shop (Top Floor).
  • Morgenstein examines the shard but cannot fully identify it. He suggests consulting a Wizard from the Geffen Tower.

6. Visit the Wizard Guildmaster

  • Go to the Wizard Tower in Geffen.
  • Speak to Guildmaster Catherine Medichi → /navi gef_tower 111, 37
  • Catherine dismisses your inquiry, avoiding the subject of the crystal’s origin.

7. Talk to Meow the Cat

  • Speak to Meow the Cat beside Catherine → /navi gef_tower 115, 36
  • Meow hints that Catherine is withholding information. She advises you to visit the Mage Guild to seek help from someone else.

8. Seek Help at the Mage Guild

  • Proceed to the Mage Guild (Top-left Geffen).
  • Speak with the Headmaster, who also refuses to assist you.
  • Then, talk to the Young Mage in the center of the room: Felwin Wispthorn → /navi geffen_in 167, 155
  • Felwin seems intrigued and offers to help.

9. Felwin’s Request – Crafting the Scroll

  • Felwin explains that the crystal belongs to a powerful magical seal. He offers to craft a Scroll of Unbinding, which can open the prison entrance.
  • Gather the following materials for him:
    • 1x Squid Ink
    • 1x Animal Skin
    • 1x Karvodailnirol
  • Once you return with the items, Felwin will create the Scroll of Unbinding.

⚠️ !Important Note!

The Scroll of Unbinding can be used anywhere — but it will only function correctly at the entrance of the PUP. If you use it outside of the dungeon entrance room, it will be destroyed, and you’ll have to gather the materials again.

10. Unlocking the Dungeon

  • Return to the PUP Entrance Room.
  • Use the Scroll of Unbinding to activate the portal. A brief animation will play, revealing the sealed entrance.
  • The quest completes automatically, and you’ll receive an achievement.

Quest Complete!

You have successfully unlocked the Prontera Underground Prison dungeon.

From now on, all characters on your account can enter freely.

Next Step: Continue the Ragnarok+ Main Story Questline beginning with the PUP Instance Quest.
