Hardcore Mode

Hardcore Mode is a special game mode in Ragnarok+ that offers a high-risk experience. Choosing Hardcore when creating a character introduces permanent death and unique gameplay restrictions, separating it entirely from Softcore characters. The mode offers special costumes and titles, but won't provide special buffs, extra stats or different gear.

Hardcore Characters share the same world with Softcore Characters.

Hardcore character with red aura

Overview

When you select Hardcore during character creation, your character is bound by the following conditions:

  • One life only - Once you die, you cannot interact with monsters or NPCs. You can only chat and roam the world.
  • Permanent gear & loot lock - Items remain with the dead Hardcore character and cannot be transferred.
  • Red aura - Hardcore players are visually marked with a red aura.
  • Shared storage, bank, and reputation - All Hardcore characters on the same account share the same:
    • Kafra Storage
    • Bank
    • Reputation levels
    • These are completely separate from Softcore characters.
  • Separate economy - Hardcore and Softcore characters use different vends/economy.
  • Death announcements - When a Hardcore character of Base Level 15+ dies, the server is announced with:
    Dead Character ingame
    • Character name
    • Base level
    • Monster that caused the death

Exceptions

  • If your character’s death was caused by server lag, sudden disconnection, or a crash, you may request a revival by the GM team.

Requirements for revival:

  1. Provide clear video evidence showing the incident.
  2. Open a ticket in the support channel on the Ragnarok+ Discord server.
  3. Verified cases will result in character restoration by staff.

  • In PvP Maps there is no permadeath.

Tips & Things to Know

Hardcore is not for the faint of heart. Survival tips:

  • Plan ahead - Know your build, equipment, healing items, and the threats you’ll face (stun, silence, blind, poison, etc.).
  • Stay alert - Beware of hidden or spawned threats (for example, Dead Branch monsters). Keep your Fly Wing ready for quick escapes.
  • Take your time - The server is intended for long-term progression; Reputation quests and other long-play content are everywhere.
  • Trust your instincts - If something feels off, retreat. One mistake can end your run.
  • Loot safety - Loot dropped from monsters cannot be looted by looting monsters.
  • Mixed interaction caution - Monsters damaged by Softcore players can still attack you even while they have a cooldown before you can engage them.
  • OCDC Slave - Keep in mind that you need your OCDC merchant to be on hardcore mode if you plan to use it.
  • Entrances - Entrances are accessible to both SC/HC characters on the same account.

Rules

Interaction between Hardcore & Softcore

  • Hardcore and Softcore players cannot interact (no trading, partying, or direct assistance).
  • Any attempt to use Softcore characters to boost Hardcore players is not allowed.
  • If a Hardcore player provides valid evidence (such as a video) that a Softcore player caused their death, the Softcore player will face sanctions.
  • If a Hardcore player dies due to lag and can provide a recording as proof, staff may revive them.

Sanctions

Violations of these rules may result in:

  • Warnings
  • Temporary suspensions
  • Permanent bans for severe or repeated offenses
